Pilates Pose

Our certified instructors have a vast understanding of the body’s anatomy through years of training in dance and Pilates. This training enables our instructors to identify patterns of strength and weakness in the upper and lower body in order to personalize the session for each client’s diverse needs. Our instructors are dedicated to helping their clients reach their individual goals. Focusing your determination, strength, and breath creates a harmony of mind, body and spirit - only then can you achieve what you never thought possible.

Mary K. Vogt

Owner and instructor, Mary has been teaching dance and Pilates for the past 20+ years professionally. She graduated from Slippery Rock University where she earned a B.A. in both dance and English Literature. She also earned her M.F.A. from the prestigious Smith College where she received a full teaching fellowship. During her time at Smith, Mary taught dance and Pilates to undergraduates at Smith College, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Hampshire College. She has also worked with notable dance companies in different capacities such as Brazz Dance Company, The Dance Alloy, and Troika Ranch, and Roza Dance Company. She continues to perform and create work throughout New York City.

Mary received her certification in Pilates mat certification through Terri Steele and her apparatus certification through Pilates Method Alliance and The Lab training heavily under Lawson Harris. Mary has also had the privilege to train under the Pilates elders, Mary Bowen and and late Romana Kryzanowska. Her teaching style is constantly evolving, to help better serve her clients needs. She draws heavily from her extensive training in dance and anatomy to create sessions that flow organically while correcting posture and strengthening and lengthening the body. Mary has earned numerous awards for her teaching. Her classes focus on breath, clean technique, flexibility, and the joy of movement. She thrives on the progression of her students.

Amy Burk

Amy began practicing Pilates in 2013, a year after the birth of her third child. In an effort to repair her diastasis recti, she became hooked after just one class! Pilates transformed her approach to fitness and exercise, building body awareness and movement control through breath and proper alignment. She received her Pilates Mat and Equipment certifications through Kane School of Core Integration in 2016 and 2017. Her training includes Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrel as well as the hands-on touch method, injury population, biomechanics and anatomy. Much of our general populations movement is performed with poor bony alignment, which in turn results in chronic muscle pain and avoidable injury. Her goal is to help her clients understand how to properly move their bodies with control and stability while gaining strength and removing pain. Her approach to Pilates is detailed and anatomical and above all fun and rewarding!
